DARK MIST™ – The Wizard Vanishes provides kids 8 and up with a game experience combining the mystery of magic with non-violence and positive values. This game, which began life as a promotional CDROM for a toy wand developed by Emerald Forest Toys, was finished a short 13 weeks later as an actual full-scale small game product. It was designed to bring some cutting edge approaches into play – a promotion of positive values that entertain without being didactic embedded in an environment promoting cognitive development and enhancing self-esteem. Special features included a soundtrack created to support the child’s emotional involvement while sustaining the parents’ sanity. The intent was to make the game conceptually, audibly, and graphically rich so that the value in its price-range was above the norm. The challenge of making an actual functioning and enjoyable game in such a short time was aided by an unusually responsive client, willing to take the risks that a rush job can mean. PathWorks also did all the packaging for this product.
